Our Story — A Legacy of Innovation and Academic Excellence
The name DEBEST comes from “Debra Establishments” (Debra Est.), the parent name created by our founder’s mother, Ernestina Debra Sapong , to represent her vision of integrity, quality, and empowerment. It is not a claim to being “the best,” but a promise of purpose: to build an institution where every learner is given the tools, guidance, and opportunity to create their own legacy. Just as the Debra family name carries decades of entrepreneurial vision, the name DEBEST carries a commitment to excellence that guides everything we do.
Our Origins and Growth
DEBEST (Debra Establishment) was founded in 1997 as a tutorial establishment, offering professional ICT programs and London-based courses from the Institute of Management and Information Systems (IMIS). At a time when digital literacy was rare in Ghana, this pioneering initiative brought practical, career-focused education to the community and laid the foundation for a culture of innovation, discipline, and excellence.
Over the years, the institution has evolved and expanded its academic offerings:
2008 — Became the Debest Computer Science and Business College, broadening diploma programs while maintaining high academic standards.
2013 — Transformed into the Debest Institute of Technology and Senior High School, introducing a full SHS curriculum and remedial programs, further strengthening pathways to higher education.
Today
With full NASIA accreditation (2025), DEBEST College of Science, Arts and Business stands as a dynamic academic institution with two main divisions:
- DEBEST Senior High School — nurturing disciplined, confident, and academically excellent SHS learners.
- DEBEST Pre-University College — providing high-quality tuition in:
- WASSCE Remedials
- 1–2-year professional diploma programs leading to Level 200 placement at partner universities or secure job opportunities / placement
- Sandwich certificate programs in IT, Digital Marketing, SAT/TOEFL, and more
